Avatar 2 set to be an insight into deep diving!!!
Film Director, James Cameron, is soon to explore the deepest point of the ocean, the Mariana Trench, in order to obtain footage and design ideas for the Avatar sequel. In 1960, after a five hour descent, the Trieste successfuly negotiated the base of the trench for a 20 minute duration, prior to their lengthy ascent phase, and remains the first and only vessel to have ever done so.
When previously asked about how Scuba diving had affected him, he replied:
"I loved this idea that there was this alien atmosphere right here on planet earth. I knew that I was never going to be an astronaut and visit another star system or land on another planet, but I knew I could explore an alien world right here."
The first Avatar is loaded with some of the most basic scuba diving ideology, such as the seeds from the sacred Eyra tree, and the Spiral ‘Helicoradian flowers’, which disappear into the ground when disturbed!!!

When asked about his inclusion of these aquatic themes he stated:
"I just swept in every design influence in my life...I’ve seen things that are absolutely astonishing on the bottom of the ocean. It really is like an alien planet. I’ve always felt like that’s something I’ve been able to do was live out a science-fiction fantasy adventure for real in my diving work. So yeah, there’s a lot of stuff there. There’s even a lot of stuff in the shallow ocean that’s influenced things. The Banshee wings are based on the colouration of tropical fish, for example."
The submersible is currently being created and is custom designed to descend the 10,972 meters of the Marianna Trench, and will be complete with a heating system and 3D cameras to capture pictures at these depths. If successful, this team will be the second group to ever visit the base of the Mariana Trench, and so could be a truly rewarding experience for many other just the movie going masses!!!
So both Avatar fans, as well as Scuba Divers, should expect to see something strangely familiar in the movie expected to hit theatres in 2014!!
